I found an advert for Coastline Community College and wanted to know if anyone had any info on them.
Basically, the job involves teaching English for their Education Bound U.S. (EBUS) program at Xiang Jiang High School (XJHS), Jade-Green Island, Guangzhou, China.
Pay is fantastic, about $25,000 a year (dollars), plus they give you housing, and a living stipend.
It kind of sounds too good to be true, but I'm guessing they can pay so much since it's through a US community college. From my understanding, it's a new programme. Iv'e been to their US website and it seems legit.
If anyone has any info it would be appreciated.
thanks! |

why could they pay so much because it's through a community college?
They can pay so much because the students pay at least 30000 maybe even 50000 or 60000rmb a year to attend.
25000US does sound too good to be true, but it's what any such job should be paying
the average is more like 15000-18000US for such jobs |

Because it's a US community college, therefore they might be getting funding from US sources and students are probably paying a lot. It's also located in sunny California, where prices are through the roof.
I found it on a legit TEFL site. I know that there are plenty of expats in China making money hand over fist, have drivers, chefs, and the works. In the grand scheme of things, $25K really isn't that much. Yes, for China, but compared to what some expats get, and compared to what teachers in California make, it's just ok.
Do you happen to know anyone who worked for them? |

| These US-Sino partnerships can be pretty sweet. Ft. Hays State (KS) has one with Shenyang Normal and SIAS International University and they pay their comp teachers $22,000 for 12-16 hrs a week. |

I'll have to look into those, thanks !
I knew about NCUK and think I might stand a chance with them. I still think I'm too young though. I'm hoping to get a Trinity dip in the next couple of years and maybe that'll help. |
