Hi People.
I have been hired by Nova. At the Nova Interview they viewed my Degree. I am already living in Japan BTW. So nova viewed the Degree and asked me to call a week later to see if id been accepted. I phoned and ive been accepted.
Now the visa part of the deal !
Nova have asked me for the original degree again so that they can go down to Immigration and organise the Visa. Should i trust Nova not too Lose it ? How long can i expect Nova to hang onto it.......what do they and immigration do with it... ?
Do Nova go to Immigration , Show the original, leave a photo copy at the immigration and take original back to the office with themselves.....?
Do they leave the original with immigration ? ......
So i assume immigrayion are going too get the original from Nova and check a data base to see if Swinburne University (aust) exists ? or do they call the school........or do they have a official copy of every degree offered in the world by every University and they are going to try to match it as being real ?....Seems bizarre
whats your take on why, when and what with this process ? |

You have two choices. In either case, trust them.
1. Give them the original diploma/degree.
2. Give them a certified photocopy. |

Okies Glenski so i trust Nova.
what actually happens once they go to immigration though ? A friend in tokyo had his orginal documents misplaced by Nova and they asked him to get a certified photocopy or transcript from the USA so that they could go to Immigration, he was peeved to say the least...
So whats your take on what the immigration department do with it all....do they just SIGHT the original, photocopy it, and let Nova leave the department with it and they give it back to me or am i going to be waiting a while for it to be returned.
do they call the University to confirm that i completed the education their. If so thats cool but the course has now been moved to a different University due too student numbers and facilities etc etc .....i dont know if my records of education moved too, if they clal guess they will find out.... |

Misplacing documents sounds like such a rare event that I wouldn't worry about it. If you do, just make a notarized photocopy. It'll cost more to do that, but you can't have your cake and eat it, too.
I have no idea what immigration does with the thing. It's all a black box operation, and what government system isn't? I mailed mine in to Japan from the USA, and in about 6 weeks got notification that my COE was ready. In the same correspondence, all of my degree paperwork had been mailed. I can't speak for what has happened to other people.
If you feel they should have contact numbers because your university office has moved, be a pal and provide such info. If nothing else, it'll lend some credibility to your credentials. Can't hurt. |

I don't work for Nova, so I don't know specifically, but when I went to do my visa stuff (my company made me do it myself), the guy looked at my original diploma, photocopied it, and give it back straight away. If you're really concerned, ask if you can do the application yourself. Have them fill out the forms, give it to you, and you can take it to the office. |
