I'm teaching a current event class and due to negotating the syllabus have decided to show a movie at the end of the semestre. It's a pretty broad class. We've talked about
PIIGS
Thai floods
War in Syria
English courses in subject classes

I'm looking for an appropriate movie, someone suggested Whistleblower but I htink it's a bit too graphic, and one popular enough so that I can get Korean subtitles. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Why the subtitles in Korean? Give them in English maybe?

How about Michael Moore's 'Capitalism: A Love Story'?

Because I really want them to grasp the meaning of the film. We already use media, articles and videos and I know how hard it can be to pay attention to a foreign language in a two hour class.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a look at his video

Why not play a dubbed version then?

Then I wouldn't understand Smile Plus, dubbing is never the same.

Subtitles can vary just as much as dubbing. However, what language points if any are they going to get from reading L1 subs?

No language whatsoever. It's not a language course per se, but a current events course. They're supposed to use media to learn about current events. We discuss things in English, of course. BUt if they don't get the info in the first place, they can't form an opinion or think of a solution to the problem, therefore have nothing to discuss.
