|
|
I'm sorry if this has already been covered but I'm heading to the solicitors in a few hours to get my degree certified so that I can send it off for it's apostille.
When I spoke to the legal secretary, she definitely sounded like she knew what she was talking about and said she would make photocopies of my degree when I got there.
I know that it's possible to have copies of degrees apostilled.
My question is, though: For working in Mexico, is it best to have the actual degree apostilled or, generally, are apostilled copies accepted? |

The actual degree. Because it might be required, and if you only have the copy, you are out of luck. |

I have been asked for the original, and never copies. If it is easy to do, I would actually do both, get the original apostilled as well as a couple of copies, then all your bases are covered. |

Thanks both.
I went to the solicitors and they actually photocopied my degree and certified that so it looks like I'm getting that apostilled. Oh, well. I can always show both the real thing and the apostilled copy. |

going along with the original document conversation....
do I really need to carry around 3 very important original documents (birth certificate, diploma, CELTA) with me thru mexico until I decide to settle down and teach??
was planning to do a bit of traveling first, maybe a month or two.... feel very unsettled about the future of my job situation in mexico being based on three pieces of paper in my backpack which could at any time 'disappear'.
not that i have ever lost a bag while traveling, but there's always that possibility.
i supposed i could have them sent to me when i land somewhere...
there is no way they will take these documents if they have been apostilled and then scanned on line? |

The copy may be ok because it is a certified copy. |

You could leave them with a friend, then once youre settled, have them sent to you by DHL or other express service. |

I think each country require something different. For Korea, they want copies. Well before it was original, but they changed it.

That is how the process works. The solicitor notarises a copy. The apostille authenticates the notary seal and signature. It just states that the solicitor is authorised to be a notary. |

Get the original apostilled but don't worry too much. They don't check anything at the migracion in Mexico. |

That has not been my experience, so take EFLeducator's comment with several grains of salt ! |
