is it common for employers to string along potential employees?
as in make an offer just to be on the 'safe' side (i.e. have a potential employee) while looking for someone else, and if someone 'better' comes along, they don't follow through.
I am asking because several of us are waiting for the papers to be sent our respective embassies from different universities (direct hire). these include PSU, KAU, PMU and KSU.
I guess we are all worried that we are out of a job at the end... |

It's part of the process. No one knows what will really work out. Always try to get a couple contracts and go with the one that works out. They are doing the same with the teachers. Go with the first to come through with the visa and ticket if you want to be safe. And keep another country for backup if you are going to Saudi, in case the one that came through turns out to be a scam, like you know who. (see handle) |

thanks for your responses:
we are new to the process, so I guess it helps to hear that it is not uncommon to sign more than one offer.
we were asked about travel arrangements etc but I guess at the end we need to wait which one works out. |
