Received this today via facebook
Andy was a colleague of mine in Saudi Arabian Airlines. when I was there 1996-2002
Dear H.........,
Unfortunately I have some bad news.
Last week on Thursday I checked my Facebook page and found the following message from a Richard Emm.
"It is with great sorrow and regret that I am posting that my beloved youngest brother Andy died suddenly yesterday 6th June. Please do post your messages and memories here so that they can be shared by family and friends alike."
It seems that Andy died very suddenly. It sounds like it was from a heart attack. I have sent condolences to his widow. |

On reflection I seem to know a lot of teachers who died in the K of SA or just after leaving.
Ian Deacon
Tom Winters
Roy Thomas
Mike Fletcher
Sigurd Ozols

Dear scot47,
My sympathies on your friend's death. I know the feeling - we are of an age when we check the obituaries to see if we're listed there.
"On reflection I seem to know a lot of teachers who died in the K of SA or just after leaving."
Well, residing in Saudi is what I've called a "near-life" experience. But, as you and I (so far) exemplify, post-Kingdom survival is possible.
Regards,
John |

Did they die in their homeland or where they emigrated? |

Winters died in the USA after he went home with lung cancer. Deacon had a heart attack in Thailand.
Fletcher died in the UK
Ozols was found dead in the swimming pool at the university where he worked in Khobar. |

There was also Stephen Jones, a long time helpful poster here in the Saudi section. Another who left and a short time later died of his lung cancer.
