Hi all, I am currently in the process of applying to jobs in Japan and was hoping to get a little help.
While I would not turn down an offer based on location, I definitely have a preference of where to work and that would be Hyogo Prefecture. With that said, does anyone know of schools that I could look into (any age, pre-school through high school)? I have scoured through this forum as well as many others in search of worthwhile employment opportunities only to find a few.
Thank you! |

Whoa, this is awkward...
Looks like this forum now has two "Roosters..."
I have interviewed in Hyogo before. Yes, there are jobs there. I won't do your homework for you, but I will tell you that for the Kansai Region (where Hyogo is located), there are some job postings on Kansai Flea Market and Kansai Scene and Ohayo Sensei. |

Yeah, it is tough. I met a couple men who work in Kobe but they speak Japanese and are certified and work at high schools. |

Hah, if I knew you posted as much as you do I would have chosen a different name.
I have not really looked at Kansai Flea Market and have not heard of Kansai Scene so thanks!

There seems to be a gap between the good jobs and those that don`t pay well. So, those at universities that pay well but are hard to get, but then there are jobs in eikaiwa that don`t pay well, or ALT jobs.
My spouse is from Osaka, so if I could get a good job in Hyogo, I would take it. |

Hyogo is a big place but jobs are there, especially if you have experience. One of my colleagues with a master's degree finally decided to find work at universities in Kansai and he wound up applying to tons of places and got jobs at 3 of them (and others wanted to hire him).
As with pretty much everywhere, there's a gap between those with skills (Japanese language and teaching credentials) and those without. |

Yeah, I have seen a decent amount of postings for universities, but I do not have a masters. |

So, what are your qualifications?
degree/major
related work experience
nationality
age
publications
desired location from which to look for work
desired date you want to start work
any reason for the preference for Hyogo? |

Yes, for Kansei Gakuin publications and research are mandatory. I know since I had an interview, and was rejected. |

My major is Anthropology with a minor in Ethnic Studies
I worked at a summer camp for five years, that has been my only teaching related experience.
I am American.
22.
I have never published anything.
What do you mean by "desired location?"
I think August to early September as to allow me to save money for start up costs.
I know some people who live in Kansai and also want to live in central Japan. |
