|
|
I'm in a somewhat unique situation as I currently live in HK with my parents, who work here too (expats, no other family in HK, not permanent residents).
I've been working here for about 2 years (not on the NET scheme, obviously), but was born and raised outside of Hong Kong.
Anyways, I was looking over the forms to apply for fringe benefits (http://www.edb.gov.hk/FileManager/EN/Content_2076/edbc09008e.pdf) and was wondering whether I'd be eligible for the special allowance.
Does anybody know? |

Many NETS are now permanent residents and HK property owners (including my wife), but this has not affected their benefits. I have looked into this with NESTA (the NET 'union' body) and their considered opinion seems to be that so long as you can prove your main nationality is outside HK (ie. you don't have a HK passport and you have relatives overseas, use an overseas passport, etc.), you should be OK. Still, applying from within, so to speak, I dunno - maybe that makes a difference?? Anyone? |
