I currently live in the States and I met a Saudi man through another Saudi friend. He owns four language schools and he wants me to come help him manage them. He has 15 Filipino teachers and has about 600 students. He has been in the biz for about 15 years with little turnover with his teachers and his students.
I have only taught Saudis at the local university so I need advice on proceeding.
He has offered to fly me there to check out the schools and get to know him and his staff better. Does anybody have any experience with a job like this? Also, where should I start with salary? I have a MA TESOL, three years experience, one year over seas. Almost all of my experience is at the tertiary level.
Would love your advice. Thanks! |

It would be helpful to know the name of the language institute. Assuming that you feel comfortable mentioning the name of the institute in question.
Thanks,
Abbas |

Dear Desert Traveller,
Are there courses that one can do which can better prepare one for a management role?
Thanks,

I think DELTA is geared in part for teachers who want to move into management. Some MA work can also be focused in this direction. |

Dear Spiral,
Thanks, that is what I was thinking. I know that the DELTA is well suited for those who wish to become teacher trainers and I guess also management to some extent.
Thanks,
Abbas |

It's great to know that he has such loyal students that there has been little turn over in 15 years. That's real progress! My students enjoy classes, but not enough to stick around for 15 years. |
