|
|
I owe my University back tuition and am unable to get my official transcripts released at this moment. I am on a payment plan but they won't budge. As one who has an MA in TESL this provides a problem for seeking work abroad in many places. My question: does Vietnam require official transcripts like Korea and Saudi do? I have an interview with a school in Vietnam coming up and I am wondering if I can even accept the job if it is offered without my transcripts. Thanks in advance. |

How would it be possible to owe a university for unpaid tuition? Tuition must be paid, either with cash on hand or by taking a student loan, right? Are you sure you owe back tuition?
Hanoi schools weren't asking for my transcripts when I was there in 2004. Based on current online info. and research it appears they still don't require official transcripts to get a business or the so-called work visa.
Your original diplomas should suffice, but I could be wrong. |

No, you don't need your transcripts, just an original diploma. |

Could be more hassle than it is worth. Though you may want to seek advice over the legitimacy of the University holding back transcripts. This would appear to be prohibitive in its nature, affecting you obtaining work permits and/or work. The fact that you owe money for tuition should be a totally separate matter and dealt with by credit collections or the appointed body. |

I've attended 4 universities in my college career, and each of them said they would withhold your diploma or transcripts if you had outstanding charges on your student account.
It's not illegal at all. If you don't pay for your education, they have no obligation to give you a degree from their institution. |

For a visa, which is usually a business visa, you don't need anything that I know of.
For employment at a school, you usually need an original real degree. Some dodgy degrees get through; others are caught.
However at my school, there has been a recent change in the work permit process. My school tells us the Minister of Ed. wants to see official transcripts with the orginial degree.
Is this a trend? I do not know.
So, be prepared to order you transcripts from you Uni. It's an easy process and I've done it before. |
