Over the course of the last few days, I have sent out my information to 30+ universities and have received no responses.
Have universities even started looking for potential ESL teachers? Am I being too impatient when waiting for responses? If I am, then when should I expect a response? |

It's not too early. In fact some Unis may have already filled their positions. Others won't have started. Probably the number that are interested right now will be quite small, and so you need to be a little more patient.
What did you send them? I mean obviously your Cv. What else?
Are you focussed on one geographical area? |

Have the unis you've applied to 'qualified' themselves in any way ie currently advertising or a contact has suggested that there could be a current vacancy?
I'm seeing 2-4 alerts from the recruitment website I use and from these (and I'm not currently looking myself) I would say this is approaching the height of the recruitment season.
At this point in the cycle you should be concentrating on unis that are currently advertising. In off-season a more carpet bombing approach is needed. |

be patient. you're not likely to get a response (other than an
automated receipt) immediately. chinese aren't really into the
'check-my-email-first-thing' thing. |

If he applied via QQ he'd be getting his Z visa printed as we typed right now. |

Are you looking for work in specific universities in specific locations or do you just prefer working for universities?
Also, how did you get the 30+ universities' email addresses? If you sent your CV to the email addresses that appear on the universities' websites, it is highly likely that it didn't get to the right people. It probably went to the webmaster who really doesn't give a hoot, or it went to someone whose job it is to respond to Chinese students (even if the website is in English). That person might not even read English. |
