I recently accepted an offer of deferred enrollment from a graduate school and suddenly have 1 year with no plans and would like to use it to improve my Chinese and potentially save up some money. I have experience teaching and grew up in an education household, so I am well acquainted with the classroom.

From my research, it seems like Shandong province fits what I'm looking for pretty well and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for schools or how best to find legitimate schools in the area.

I understand that many of you are wary of short-term teachers, but I have to be back in the US by August of next year, so a full year-long contract might not be possible. If anyone has some advice about finding a shorter contract, that would also be appreciated.

Qingdao is probably the stand out location in Shandong.
Your start date in the public uni/vocational college area is 1 Sept and you should be up and away end June 2013.
They are basically 10 month contracts.
