Hello everyone
I'm new to the forum - please be kind!
Apologies if somebody has posted on this already, but the search function doesn't seem to be working for me...just wondering if anybody has worked at either Sur University College, or Sohar University, or knows anybody that has?
I'd be really grateful for any information you might be able to provide. |

The key to getting the search to work properly and give you decent information is to tick "search for all terms." The default above it often gives so many links that it won't load.

I have many friends at Sohar University and in general it's a decent place to work, both teaching in the general foundation program or the faculties. Sur Uni College, on the other hand generally pays considerably less and has a history of poor administration with many teachers coming and going. Teachers tend to stay for longer periods (many as much as 5 or 6 years) in Sohar. I also think the students will be slightly higher level and a bit more serious in Sohar, as Sohar Uni is trying to upgrade it's academic programs and is receiving substantial amounts of govt funding for research projects. Most colleges and unis in Oman pretend to be 'real' educational institutions, but it's mostly a facade. Sohar Uni is really trying to up its game. Hope this helps... |

Do you think the upgrade might include how to use an apostrophe? |

Its not 'picky' at all. The correct use of apostrophe's is the hallmark of a distinguished teacher. The number of teacher's who misuse them is shamefully high.
This, of course, has nothing to do with Sohars quality's as a place or it's colleges reputation. I have visited it and it's environ's seemed quite attractive. |

And I do believe that theology is pretty high on the Sohari agenda, alongside a geometrical approach to problem solving. |

I posted about my experience at SUC in the 2011-2012 year under the title "My Experience at Sur University College (SUC)"
If you want to know more about the place, that's pretty much everything you need to know to justify avoiding it. |
