|
|
Hi all, new the forum, had a search for this question but couldn't find anything so apologies if this has been answered before.
I am looking for my first teaching job in China, ideally somewhere in the South West (Sichuan, Yunnan etc.). I am looking for a university position. I was wondering if anyone has any tips for good web sites to post my resume on for recruiters to view? I am already on abroadchina.org and have had some good responses, but would like to cast my net further.
Thanks in advance. |

I'd honestly avoid recruiters and apply directly to schools. There are lots of adverts out there. Posting your CV is opening yourself up to a lot of spam. |

You want a site where both schools and recruiters advertise. I'll PM you with some thoughts. |

Some recruiters aren't too bad. I got my last job through one and there wasn't any money taken from my salary or anything dodgy like that. Often Universities will use recruiters because they are too inept to hire people themselves. Sure, applying to schools directly is good but I've found some schools have such useless staff that for whatever reason the news of your desire to work there never reaches the right people.
Oh and naturally you create a new email account for anything posted online. |

I totally agree that there are good recruiters, but I could probably count them on one hand (Footprints, Reach to Teach, Teach Away, Canadian Connections come to mind) however, many recruiters are cut-throat, just looking out for themselves and in it to make money. |

I went through a recruiter when I first came to China. I was a little uncertain at the time, because you never know if it is a sure thing, but since arriving they have been my lifeline when it comes to taking care of the legal things I need. If you are still needing help shoot me a PM. I currently live in Weishan, Jining City, Shandong, China and I could not be happier with how everything turned out. |

Hmm. Something tells me the date of joining and the 'shoot me a PM' suggests all is not what it seems. Maybe I am being cynical but every message asks for a PM if you want 'help'. |

Haha yeah I know. I do however live in work as an ESL teacher in Weishan, Jining City, Shandong Province. It is a small city in the middle of no where but the people are nice, and I enjoy my job. I actually found my first job in China from Dave's ESL cafe. |

Are these also recruiters who recruit for China? There are minimum salary requirements due to my experience teaching in Korea. |

Has anyone used Reach to Teach? Do they find jobs in universities, high schools, and private schools (the three I am interesrted in)? |
