Hi

Awful post title I know Rolling Eyes

I have never taught and never been to Turkey (7 years teaching in China and counting Shocked

)

However, I have been offered a job in Gaziantep and was wondering if anybody had ever worked there??

I have also been offered between $1750-$2000 is this a decent rate in Turkey??

Any advice is welcome..........

Now is the time to get the hell out of China.......before it all goes bottoms up Razz

Gaziantep is one of the better places to to teach in Turkey when it comes to savings. The salary offered by most Turkish employers is usually higher than average for EFL teachers because it is a very conservative and somewhat boring place to teach. Regarding China you are right to get out of there.

I haven't been to Gaziantep and don't plan to while the heatwave in Adana holds out. But I planned to when I came here, and I certainly will soon I hope. That said, what I've heard is close to what Eagle Eyes is telling you, with the added warning that there's a large population of Syrian refugees making the city less safe (and thus a little more exciting) than it used to be.

That said, personally if I had the job offer you described, assuming that's actually dollars, not lira, and the other terms (hours, housing, and work permit) are decent, I'd take it in a heartbeat.
