Hi,

I'm just curious about how to get my family (a parent and a asibling) to come live with me in ksa? Is that possible with an iqama? And if so, how long does it take and what is the process like? I'm a Canadian female by the way.

Thanks,

j87

It depends on whether you have an iqama and what your profession is (medical professionals rank high; EFL teachers do not). Anyway, you'll need to talk to your Saudi employer because they're sponsoring you. However, I suspect your family members will only be able to get visit visas.

I would say definitely not a sibling. I remember that there was a person that was attempting to bring his elderly parents with him. A big part of the discussion had to do with the fact that they would not be covered under the healthcare system. The consensus on here was that it was not a good idea... and most likely not an option anyway.

Women have difficulties in bringing a husband with many employers (if not most).

Dear Juno87,

You will definitely need an iqama to bring your parents. Normally, one cannot bring their siblings, unless if you can prove that this sibling is a dependant. The process is long and tedious. It should take a month or two, depending on how fast you complete the paperwork, in order to bring them over to KSA. As nomad soul mentioned, you will only be allowed to bring them under a family visit visa, which you can renew every month or every 3 months.

Hope that helps.
