Has anyone been told that they can't have their residence permit extended during summer months because, as the police said :" you are going to travel, and if anything happens during that time we will be held responsible"
so what did you do in such a situation?
did you have to go back to your home country and apply for the new Z visa again?

I am not sure about the being responsible excuse , but you should get another employer if you plan on working after summer. I will be starting work in September, but I am getting a residence permit next week so I can stay in China until then.
Do you have another employer? If not, you might be able to transfer to an L visa and then renew. However, when you try to get a Z visa again, I am sure you'll have to leave the country and do a visa run. |

Why is this thread titled "Kicked out of China"? Having a RP problem doesn't mean you're being deported. Are you just being melodramatic?

they cannot extend your rp because that permit is based on your
work contract. your contract ends, your rp ends.
you either need a new contract to have a new residence permit
issued, or you get a tourist visa. |

Are you planning on staying in China another year? If so, try to avoid changing to a tourist visa if possible, because when you find a new job you might have to go through all the hoops again to get a new Z visa, which might include having to go back to your country to apply for it. |

My RP expires the end of this month, but I'm staying in China til August. I wouldn't ask the school to extend the RP cos it's nothing to do with them if I'm not working for them.
I got a tourist visa- you can do the same. It cost me about 180. Don't worry. |

My contract ends June 30th as did my residence permit. This past week my school had another residence permit issued to the End of December. New contract starts Sept 1. However I am covered for the summer.
I think it depends on the practice in your city or province..... |

choudoufu has it I think. From my experience, as long as you have a new contract, you can stay. |

Your situation mirrors mine.
Will you convert/get the L visa in the city you currently reside in ? Or, do you have to be out of the country? |

Teacher, go to your local PSB and apply for an L visa. You may have to show proof of funds for the duration of the L visa: eg USD100 a day. |
