For a Z visa application, will the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC, accept a medical exam from any licensed US physician, or only from designated clinics or hospitals? Also, if only designated hospitals or clinics are acceptable, then is there an online listing of them? (I'm in Staunton, Virginia.) For information on this, please, I would be most grateful. Contact: David Ritchie, dwrseoul (at) hotmail.com. Thank you. |

Are you sure the Embassy in DC requires a medical? Seems like I saw something on here about that. |

I have a blank medical exam form that I used to get my Z visa in Mexico; check your e-mail. |

we got our visas in chicago last week - no medical exam needed. we had to have it done though for the employer to get work permit and all. we used immigration doctor who actually help immigrants into the US but it's essentially the same doc.
And by the way, there's a phone number for questions like this on DC page - we contacted them - free and useful.
good luck |

I used my personal physician for the DC embassy. |

Many schools will send you a form to have a doctor fill out. You must send this form in to get the z-visa. In my case, the school in China then took all of the teachers for a second exam after we arrived to get out expert permits. My best advice is not to cut corners, once you're in the country, you must have the z visa in hand or you might have to travel to Hong Kong or somewhere to get it. This is covered in "Teaching in China - Seven Dog Years." |
