Anyone have any info on Saudi Electronic University? Their English language website is http://seu.edu.sa/en/. One of my coworker's here in Korea got an offer from them, but to me the school seems just a tad on the sketchy side. Any info would be appreciated -- thanks. |

It's legit; it was approved by the Saudi Ministry of Higher Ed. But what about it makes you think it's sketchy? |

Well, they basically offered my coworker a job w/out even a Skype interview. To me, that seems like they're desperate for folks, but I could be wrong. I was just curious about hearing from anyone who had worked or is currently working there. |

Was this as a direct hire or through a recruiting company? |

I believe it was through a recruiter. |

No surprise there. Many universities don't handle the hiring of teachers for the Prep Year programs; they leave that up to outside recruiters and contractors. Those contracting companies that "manage" the PYPs, also sponsor the teachers, who are essentially working for them and not the university.
I'm sure the recruiting company that contacted your friend has been discussed at length somewhere on this forum. Anyway, making job offers to applicants without interviewing them has sketchy written all over it. Best if your friend applies directly to the universities instead of going through this nonsense. Some unis will post openings on their websites, if they hire directly. Plus, there's also higheredjobs.com, tesol.org, and chronicle.com for openings. Timing is key---most of the openings have been filled for the upcoming academic year, but there may still be spots available at some of the unis. |

Dr. Abdullah Al-Mousa: opening four branches of the Saudi e-University next year
The Director of the Saudi electronic University Dr. Abdullah Al Mousa reveals after his participation in the workshop "e-learning is a need or tradition" which was Organized by the Community College in Buraidah, that the university will open three branches next year. According to statistics in the existing universities, the distribution of the branches will be according to the largest number of students enrolled in distance education.
Already impressed. I also like the creative use of initial small and capital letters throughout. The KSA is the KSA. There is no escape. |
