Some questions:

Is anyone working up in the northern regions of Poland (Gdansk area)?

How is the system setup for Americans seeking long-term residence there?

I have traveled in Poland a few times (Warsaw, Krakow and Zakopane) and am curious about the working environment there.

I will be reading the threads but new experiences from those currently on the ground is always good.

Hi.

I'm in the area but I don't know anything about procedures for US citizens. I could try to find out from a sound source if you're still interested.

Hm, in what way do you imagine the working environment would be very different from Warsaw etc.? The place is different, but the job's the job.

It takes 6 years to get long term residency.

You have to file every year and not be out of the country for more then 30 days in a year period.

B.S., First you'll receive one year residency, then you'll receive two year residency, then after only 3 years (three), you can apply for permanent residency. I received mine after 4 years of being here because of some hiccups.

If it took you 6 years to get yours, you must have done something wrong to be delayed that long.

Not me, ex roomie! He has lived in Poland over 6 years and they still didn't give it to him.

He was out of Poland for more then 30 days in one of those years.

I know its not the best source.

Then you guys are doing something wrong when filing out the forms.

I filled out the form, 20 days later got a letter summoning me to their office for an interview. Showed up, talked to them, got another letter in the mail a week later. 2 weeks after that, picked up my KARTA POBYTU OSIEDLENIE SIE....

I think that you've checked the wrong box or filed out the wrong form. Good luck!
