|
|
Greetings!
Let me first say, I'm a total newbie- I don't know what I don't know !
Long story short, I think Indonesia would be a good location for me.
From my research, I saw generally posisitve comments about EF& yes I saw on the initial application that it asks if you have a criminal background. And while here, it's not a big deal at all, but I have 2 misdemeanor marijuana paraphenalia charges. So, my question is- has anyone else out there been in a similar situation? As well, I was wondering- is it just that company- or is that something Visa-related, is this abig deal?
How do you get a background-check on yourself anyway?
Thanks in advance!! |

I wouldn't even mention it as Indonesia doesn't have the means to investigate people's backgrounds - they can't even be bothered checking degree certificates.
As long as you have two arms, two legs, and a pulse then EF will be happy. That's not necessarily a criticism of EF - just saying it as I see it. |

It's only a lie if they catch you, and most likely they won't check. Unlike many countries, Indonesia still does not require a criminal background check for EFL teachers. And who is Anna Thema? |

Hehehe... took a minute to get your joke there Voltaire (my hero on free-speech!) !!
I always err on the side of disclosure; frankly, I'm still opposed to the idea of lying... So, this WOULD be an issue in other countries?
I was told (when I got my recent charge) that I can get this expunged w/in 6 months... I thought I might just wait it out??
That said, being a total newbie- I 100% welcome ALL feedback!!
Thanks!! |

| I've never heard of criminal background checks being asked for in Indo. |

The website for EF, when you make the initial contact- it asks you if you have a criminal "record". It didn't say anything about an actual background-check, I'm guessing now they probably just put that there so people might remove themselves/not apply if they do have one.
And again, I do appreciate all feedback, being a newbie& all |

| In EF's case, they probably aren't interested in you unless you have a criminal background. |

| I'm not sure they'd be able to check even if they wanted to... |
