I have been in and out of a few language schools in my city. They all have pictures of a foreign teacher teaching their students. The funny thing is that they all have pictures of the same lady. A good looking blonde girl. At my school there are many pictures on the wall of her with our students. Non of the teachers recognize her. I think she is a smart backpacker who knew that is all these schools wanted anway. I hope she got paid. But It really shows you how much the owners of buxibans know about marketing. I stopped in at a school just across the street from my school to play a game a Go or weiqi. There was another language school beside the place and on the wall there was an advertisement with the good looking blonde but in their school. So this girl has long gone because I have been here a year. The staff has turned over almost completely. The boss left an old employee roster in her desk. So many teachers in two years. Nobody remembered her even when I started work here last year. |

I once interviewed with a local school - corporate training facility near my house.
NEVER worked for them but I gave them a resume and picture.
On their www site is my picture and bio saying I have worked there for 3 years.
I have asked them to remove it but they never have.
They call me often but have a terrible reputation so I always tell them I am busy or never answer their calls. |

I did a one-off teaching gig during Hallowe'en many years ago and a few months back I saw my photo on the wall of some school after being tipped off by a student's parent.
Needless to say I went to the school and gave them 24 hours to remove the photo. The next day I went to the school and my picture was still there so I tore it down.
The receptionist asked me what I was doing and I asked her if she recognized the foreign in the photo. After that question she sat back down and kept quiet.
As I left, I told the poor girl her boss was free to call the police-- if he/she dared.
Several months later, nothing. |

Ya Hangzhou Hell on has some complaints about teachers pictures and testemonials being used to advertise for teachers.
I find it funny that they should do this false advertising. You would think someone would try and run an honest business and take advantage of the situration. It would be a niche in the market. We offer a ligitimate product and stand behind it. |
