Hello folks
I have been offered a job in Shanghai, on a toursit visa initially, then i after they have checked me out, they will sponsor my visa. I applied for my Visa yesterday at the UK Chinese embassy, so I only have 89 days remaining on it. I plan to leave in the first few days of August. Though I have yet to book my flight, as I'm waiting to get my passport back first.
If i don't impress and they are reluctant to sponsor my visa, is it possible for me to extend the visa for another 90 days in Shanghai, giving me more time to look for jobs in other smaller cities in China, whom are willing to also sponsor my visa?
I also collected a working holiday visa for Japan, as i'm 29 and this is only offered before the age of 30. This allows someone to travel for a year in Japan looking for jobs.
As I have a few Chinese friends in Shanghai, I thought this would be a good first base
Any help or advice much appreciated
Thanks |

Yea, flying all the way to China for what amounts to a job interview is not the best idea. Better to find an employer ready to commit based on your qualifications.

the visa clock starts ticking WHEN you enter China. Look a little closer at the visa.
so you are spending how much money to come to China on a promise of WHAT?
Haven't you read ANY of the horror stories about those falling prey to these promises?
Only to get told - usually a day before their tourist visa expires - that they "violated" some condition they never heard about and they are fired - minus any pay or promised benefits?
You might as well go to a "tea house" with some college students you just met on Nanjing Road and have a few cups of $1000 tea.
The result is the same. |

PS - working in Shanghai on a tourist visa has GREAT risk for you - little for your company. |

If you enter the country on an L, you'll have to exit before you can be issued a Z/Residence permit. More costs for you to fly to Hong Kong. |

That is IF they decided to keep you and not tell you the day before your visa expires that they don't like you. |
