Has anyone got any advice on what VPN would be good to use in China.
Off to live and work in China next week and I would like a VPN so that i can access facebook and also BBC iplayer.
Another EFL site recommends Atrill, but internet searches reveal lots of negative comments
Any advice?
Thanks

As long as I remember, Purevpn.com VPN software has an option to connect in China.
Although I successfully tried purevpn to watch Netflix outside of US,I didn't get a chance to try it in china but I think it worth to try. |

www.riseup.net offers a free VPN and encrypted email between account holders and any receiver willing to set up encryption on their machine. With the VPN and their email, you will always be located in either NYC or Seattle. |

I couldn't download torrents in China until I got Astrill. It works okay. Sometimes it chokes off or quits, but it's fine 95% of the time. It's not too expensive, but there are probably cheaper options. |

Will these VPNs only work in China? I'm currently in Sudan and trying to get one that will allow me to view stuff on UK websites like BBC iPlayer.
Thanks |

I use Astrill and it lets you choose which country you set your IP address from. You can choose the UK and watch the BBC iplayer, listen to sport on the radio which is usually rights restricted etc. |

I have used witopia for the last 7 1/2 years with no major issues. One poster had issues with them, I faced no such problems though. I did email them once a few years back and asked if they logged my information. They responded with a legal statement, which upon interpreting said no, they will not log.
Strange that torrenting popular shows is such a big thing. They wont look twice at the child porn, videos of murder, rape, robbery, you name is, it is all about copyrighted stuff. Who cares if actual people get harmed. Sorry, bit of a rant there. |
