Dear All,

Please be advised about Dar Al Uloom University (DAU). The original thread with the most detailed information on this place seems to have been deleted. Here is a link to an older thread on DAU:

http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=69130&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=dar++uloom

DAU is located near Imam University at Exit 7 in Riyadh. They hire both male and female teachers. However, consider them carefully before accepting any offers. They've been around for about 4 years now and during the last 2 years they have gone down hill fast. So many blunders and mishaps have been made that now practically all of the upper administration has been replaced. They are on their third Rector in less than two years. Before the admin change they canceled teachers' contracts mid semester and gave notice to a large number of other instructors that they will be fired. Many of these were based on false information proliferated by those who have been fired or demoted.

Now DAU is in crisis management trying to find ways to cover courses that they no longer have teachers to teach. Many teachers who have been fired are now being contacted to see if they can return to DAU. DAU may be trying to offer these teachers lower salaries for returning.

One of the main problems is the head of the HR and secretary to the Main Boss (the owner's son, who has been quoted as saying that he has no interest in education and only cares about the business). This HR/Secretary is the main cause of trouble for all Expat workers at DAU. He will lie to your face and not blink. A simple single exit-reentry visa that takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete will take him days or weeks to get done. If he dislikes you, you will have nothing but trouble. You may even end up getting fired for no reason.

Contracts do not mean much to these people and they will say or do anything they think will be in their best interest. I hope others who have posted information in the past about DAU will post here again to help inform those who may consider this place for employment.

Best of luck to All!

Yep! Sounds familiar. I worked there when it started and it went down, and down and down. Everything in the above post is true! You have been warned!
