Hi Folks,
I've lived and worked in KSA for the last 2 years now and have had quite enough. I'm looking for jobs in more 'liberal' Gulf states but would like to work somewhere where no exit VISA is required in order to leave the country.
In KSA, with an IQAMA, you need a multiple-exit or single exit VISA to leave for a weekend / holiday etc. I've had quite enough of this nonsense. Is this a system also in place in countries like Kuwait / UAE? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Last mentions here are that Qatar requires exit visas. Neither the UAE or Oman require them (or Bahrain). In the past, Kuwait University (but no other employers that I heard of) required exit visas, but I heard that they ended that policy.
So it seems to be only Saudi and Qatar. That said, while there have been many complaints about getting one in Saudi (with the bad employers making it difficult or refusing), there haven't been any complaints about getting one in Qatar.

I never considered the exit visa requirement to be anything more than a minor bureucratic hassle. There are much bigger problems in KSA to worry about ! Multi exit/re-entry visas are much more common now than they used to be. |

I'd say that it comes down to your long time advice Scot... choose your master wisely.
But not everyone has that option...
