At KAU, we can leave at 5pm on Oct. 17th. Today is my second day of teaching (4 hours at that) and I've already started thinking about the Haji breaK. |

5pm!!! They're cheating you. I'll be away by 10am! As soon as I got back from summer vacation I was rifling through the calendar checking up on exact Haj dates. |

In many places no one is ever sure when you can go until it is announced. This drives many Westerners crackers. They cannot live without constant reference to a calendar ! Plans are made months in advance. NOT the weay locals do it.
ind you if you are buying a ticket tol escaope from Arabia, it helps if you have a date....... A point that seems to escape Saudi managers. |

People spend so much time, energy and worry trying to get into Saudi Arabia and once they finally manage to get in. They spend all their time, energy and worry trying to get out.
Happy Holidays! |

Holidays start at the end of the working day on the 17th, and classes resume on the 3rd. It is official.
We were planning on going to Morocco to visit my brother, but we will probably scratch that as we spent a ton in Turkey/Cyprus in the summer to feel normal and human again after a difficult and busy term last spring. |
