|
|
A good question. For those of us motivated individuals who'd like to seriously study Chinese and Teach to supplement things, are there such opportunities? And I mean seroius study, like 10-15 hours a week. The 2-4 hour gigs are usually just gimmicks and don't amount to much. The teacher you're getting is not being paid and has little desire to teach you etc... .
Anybody heard of this? I'm looking into the matter. It's done very commonly in Taiwan. That may not be the case in China.
I'd appreciate your help.

I'm sure you could do it. Look for a job at a university, you usually teach 10 to 15 hours. And could study as well.
Best of all, might be to look for a school/university that has CHinese class and see if you can teach English there. |

I have looked into this for next term. Most of it is in Beijing but it's not work and study. You can study Chinese all morning for ..PM me if you like I have info around and can give you phone numbers...You can do that and look for work but no one will offer you both...I settled for paying for lessons all summer and then staying on to teach in the fall.
Roughly speaking expect to pay about 300-400 US a month for studying and 6 US a day for a room. |

Why won't people offer you a job if you are studying? Maybe you should get a job first and then take Chinese lessons. There are people who do it here in Changchun. |

Yes I guess you can...Colleges I found offering full time classes were all-morning..If they need teachers I suppose they would give you afternoon-evening classes...
Or you can simply enrol and look for work later...And in the biggest cities there are private acadamies that will fit your schedule...The only way I will study is by doing it full time and not teaching at all. |

Beijing sounds expensive, smaller cities may have cheaper classes. Here classes are arond 1500 to 2000USD an academic year. hoursing ranges from 400 to 800 RMB. |
