I have been made an offer and I have to make a decision real soon.
I want to know about rents in the Haidian area. I hate the cold (can't stand it) and so don't want to be commuting if I can help it.
I could always go to Saudi Arabia to earn money but then I would not be able to have any fun (no dating or drinking beer, etc.) at all. The dune-buggying looks good, but that's about it.
Any tips greatly appreciated. |

Haidian is way, way colder than the rest of Beijing.
It has its own micro climate because of the winds blowing in from the desert.
Also, it has lots of tall buildings that funnel the wind into ice cold Siberian-esque mini-cyclones.
Horrible.
Fortunately, rents there are quite cheap. Expect to pay around 12,000rmb a month for a peasant shack. No heating of course but a Lei Feng hat and a big army coat will see you right. |
