Bars

JJS Irish Pub (The Closest thing you will find to a Real Pub on the Island) Usually crowded at weekends with a mixed expat crowd. DJ, Live UK Band. Good security, Good Food, All Sports shown on Big Screen *Clean (Of Working girls.)

Wrangler Busy RnB Hip Hop Bar, popular with Americans from the Base. Although mixed crowd including Locals, filipinos & EU. Friendly, usually trouble free. Loud @ Weekends.Open until 2, * Mid

Champs English style Pub on the floor above Wrangler. Not very Busy until after 2am when it becomes the 'After Bar'. Good food, Sports etc * Filth

Diva Hotel, Juffair A New Hotel containing 3 Bars, Kicks A poor attempt at an English Pub, reasonable food, Sports shown, not usually Busy. DC's Hip Hop/RnB bar, Popular with Americans. Good Live band, Busy at Weekends. Skybar Located on the rooftop. Open air Bar, Expensive, Popular at weekends (Lebanese,Local, Euro Crowd) DJ (House Music). All *Clean - Mid

Dublin Calls itself 'Clubbing Reinvented', but is nothing of the sort. Regular Bar, Decent Band, Average Food, Expensive Drinks. Mixed Crowd of US, Euro, Filipino. *Mid

Buffalo A western styled Bar, Average food, Reasonably priced Drinks, Good DJ, Decent Band. Has an after Hours Bar adjoined Bedrock Reasonable party crowd at weekends *Mid

Bushido Was meant to be Buddha Bar until The name was rejected on Religious grounds. Good place to go if you have money to Burn. Popular at weekends, Single guys have trouble getting in, If you are let in, it will cost you BD10 for the pleasure. Amazing interior (That has to be seen) VIp, VVIp, VVVVVVVVip sections etc. *Unknown, but would suggest Clean or Higher Class Mid!

Coral Bay Beachside venue, Pool with attached Bar (Perfect for the Hot weather). Good Food, Diving centre, Jet Ski's etc. Poolside DJ, BD5 Entry. *Clean

Ricks American Style Bar, Good Food *Mid

F1 Popular with Filipinos & Visitors from across the Bridge *100% Filth

Muju On Amwaj islands. Nice venue with Pool etc, Never Busy. Nice for a date. Expensive drinks. *clean

Trader vics Popular bar at the Ritz. Expensive but amazing cocktails. Latino band. A Must visit at least once (Preferably by Taxi due to the strength of the cocktails!) *clean

Brazil Lounge Decent Small bar above the restaurant. Good atmosphere, Decent DJ. Worth a Visit. *clean

Block 338Resturant, but Avoid the food! It's main appeal is The Beer garden, pretty much one of the only ones here. A good size, Drinks can be pricey, but worth it for the garden. *clean

Clubs

Klub 360 Pretty much the only decent club here now. Opens from 8pm, good DJ, Commercial music. Strict entry (Shirt n Shoes) Has a very Busy after hours bar on the next floor up. *Clean

Tabu Still open, but pretty much off everybody's radar. Very Bright (White with Blue Lighting) DJ's, Promotions etc *Mid - Filth.

Closures

Cocoon Lounge Used to be the place to go, but since change of management has gone down hill & as far as i'm aware, has Changed its name & opened as a filipino bar. *expect filth

Diamond Sky Opened it's doors a few months back in a blaze of glory promising to change the clubbing scene in Bahrain with a DJ from 'Ibiza'. Nobody cared, Nobody went. Closed after 3 weeks.

Of course there are others! Hope this Helps!

Filth?

JJs has to be the most boring pub I've ever been to, almost as depressing as the airport bar.

Filth = The chances of bumping into one of Bahrain's working girls. ie: Very High.

Regarding JJS, I guess it depends what your comparing it with & what your agenda for the evening is (See Above!) Razz

Bahrain is hardly Ibiza, so excitement levels are unlikely to Peak anywhere on the island, although Manama did make No2 on the Sin cities list last month, up from No8 3 years ago! Shocked

As an alternative you could buy a bottle of that well-known whisky McAndrew's for 4.5BD and drink it in your room.

Trance music, no idea.

Hi Littlejam, Yeah the Coral beach club (Now called Coral Bay)is still open (Karim is not there any more), It's still pretty busy in the day, they have a DJ spinning by the pool every day (Playing Soulful & Deep house) Wink

Ministry of sound will be there on the 30th May & the F1 parties were fantastic!

As for your other Question regarding, Trance, techno & Trap etc. Unfortunatly not at present. Due to the goings on of the past few years, there really arn't enough western expats left here to make that a viable option. Any club here will have a soundalike playlist of Pitbull, Flo Rida, Guetta & Psy! Rolling Eyes

The post at the top of the page is accurate, so says this two year Bahraini expat and Alcoholic

I think the best night out is at DC's at diva hotel. It's a real mix of classic rock, pop and hip hop from the band though. Tasteful level of prostitutes.

If you like to sit outside, in the same area as block 338 is the new Lanterns. Very good Indian food, excellent garden with AC units and that weird water vapor cooling system, no filth and chilled out. I bought a teetotal Christian couple there for a meal and they found nothing to object to with the clientele or the atmosphere. Get there before seven and they have very cheap drinks (for Bahrain). And they give you free poppadoms!

Also, down the road from here try Camalots Excellent wine tating night, great steaks and a cosy, if smokey, bar lounge.

There is a place called Klub 360 which I hate but is a sort of classy nightclub. Also check out Skybar in Diva hotel, swanky open air bar/club on the roof. Full of plastic people and often need to bring a girl to get in though.

I could be wrong here, but we had a gay colleague about 8 months ago who would go to Wendy`s every weekend for the 'scene'. Perhaps it has changed a little?

Either there or some other place in the Gulf gate.
