Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone has been to, and/or worked in Hermosillo. It seems like it would be very similar to Culiacan. I know it is HOT, but aside from that, what is it like? As usual, your comments are greatly appreciated.

Hermosillo reminds me a lot of Tucson, where I used to live. Hot, VERY dry (drier than Tucson methinks). Get a "swamp cooler" or "evaporative cooler" there or in the States if you decide to live there. Nice thing about hot and dry is that they work very well and take a heck of a lot less electricity than AC does.

Other than the weather, it is a pretty, well-laid out city but not a whole heck of a lot in the way of cultural amentities (definitely not compared to DF, etc) still is very much a frontier town. Those who can drive to Arizona to shop (about 4.5 hours to Tucson). On the plus side - I LOVE comida Sonorense. Simple, basic but oh so yummy. More beef-based as this is ranching country still.

And you can go to Guaymos/San Carlos easily to escape the heat. There is supposed to be some decent scuba diving in those parts but Ive been there only once.
