Hey everyone! So, I've been digging through past posts on this topic, and I still have a couple questions about how the EDB will view my qualifications. I'm interested specifically in applying for PNET positions.

I have an irrelevant B.A., but I went on to get a M.A. in Teaching degree (for elementary education, included student teaching). I am currently certified to teach in the state of Illinois, and about to add an ESL endorsement to my certification. I'm guessing this would meet the QTS and PGDE requirements?

In addition, I'm finishing my MATESL at a state university, and teaching an undergraduate ESL course as a T.A. The MATESL curriculum includes a methodology class with a few hours of supervised teaching, but not a teaching practicum.

After I finished my Master's in Teaching, I taught ESL in an elementary school in South Korea for a year. When I came back, I taught adults part-time at a U.S. community college for a little over a year. Will my post-PGDE teaching experience count for anything? Or do they need to be post-TESL to count?

Just wondering if they're going to consider me a brand new teacher and if I have any real shot at a PNET position.

Hi some 130. I'd say your quals are spot on and your experience will help. It may not count towards boosting your salary but you should be in with a chance if you apply.

As has been said a million times...EdB are a law unto themselves.

Submit.

If they refuse, send them an email asking why.

That's the only way to find your true path.
