|
|
Hi there,
I have been working in KSA now for 19 months. I would like to state from the outset that I'm generally content with my employer. The only thing I don't have, which I'd like is a multiple exit re-entry VISA (MERV).
Does anyone know which employers in KSA (or the UAE) actually provide these? I know that KFUPM does but beyond that I have no idea.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards

My experience was that these multi visas are more common in Dhahran/Dammam/Khobar, because of the proximity of Bahrain.
BAe now offer them to their employees.

Not sure that any employer 'offers' multiple exit/re-entry visas - you have to ask for one and do the paperwork. Most direct hire jobs (Aramco, Bae, university/government institutions) will readily make them available. Contractors, it seems, don't want employees to have them as they facilitate running. I work for the government and just have to fill out a form and pay SR500, wait a week, and there it is. Single exit/re-entry visas cost SR200 and can be received on the spot. |

Dear Jaffa,
You mentioned single exit/entry visas are 200 SAR and issued on the spot. Where is the spot? Where do I go to get one?
Thanks |

Not quite. From the ATM you get a voucher and then you submit this through your employer with passport to the "Jawazat" |

In the UAE you have free movement in/out of the country, and it is illegal for an employer to keep your passport although many companies violate the law for low-wage workers. I've never heard of a company asking a westerner for his/her passport.. |

Sorry for the delay replying as I've just seen this.
'On the spot' is in the passport department of my employer. Other places have the same set up. Like I said that will depend on who your employer is.
You can't get a visa from an ATM. You can pay for it using an ATM or via an online bank account. |

Many contractors DO offer/help with MERVs. - ask at interview!
SRACO does with no problem at all - after you have completed three-month probationary period! Many others do! Some charge a deposit of 5,000 or 10,000 riyals (returned when you leave - hopefully) to prevent doing a runner - but generally available! |

My passport was demanded of me by International House when I was in KSA on a Business visa and in Khafji. They did not get it from me.
Interlink also wanted my passport to hold to keep me from running. I did not run but many did run away. |

British Council also gives Multiple Exit Re-Entry visas (Valid for 2 years) free of cost. Also you keep your passport and Iqama with you. |

2-year MERV ! Now that is something. The ones we got were valid for 180 days as I recall. |
