I've been an avid supporter of Anglosophere integration for a long time.
I think that the non-EU Anglophone states (US, Canada, Australia, NZ, and possibly the English Caribbean, Mauritius, Seychelles and the independent Pacific states) ought to have an arrangement similar to that now between the UK and Ireland, and for that matter Australia and New Zealand. Residents of developed (or less-developed but tiny) English-speaking countries ought to be able to move freely between those countries, and have something similar to common citizenship, including automatic right to vote.
I also think that the Commonwealth of Nations should get rid of having the British Monarch as nominal head, and that move should be followed by the entry of the US, Ireland, the Philippines, Liberia, and the CFA states, thereby finally giving the Angloshere a cohesive forum. (Neither the US nor Ireland is likely to join as long as the British monarch heads the organization, and none of the countries that speak English as a result of American influence is eligible to join until the US does.)
Obviously these are fringe positions, (I hold a lot of fringe positions) but as someone who believes that global integration and largely open borders should be an ultimate goal, closer Anglosphere ties seem like an easy and worthwhile place to start.
Regards,

The British Commonwealth? Even jettisoning the monarchy won't lure the US back into the fold |

Might work the other way round. Lots of Brits would be happy to be another state in the Union !

Yeah, I was going to mention that war we fought...Sadly even NAFTA hasn't allowed us to work in Canada or Mexico them here. Legally anyway. Heck, in the US I can't teach in another state (or practice medicine, be a CPA or any other job requiring state licensing) without redoing my qualifications. I just don't see it working with other nations. |

Are you serious? A California doc. cant practise medicine in Texas without re-training? |

Quite serious. I have a few doctor friends stuck in California doctors don't have to retrain they have to retake their boards in each state in which they wish to practice. Not an easy thing if it;s been some years since graduation. |
