I saw an ad from this place and have searched the forum for information, but am not having luck. Is JTI related to Jubail Industrial College? Can anyone provide general info about JTI such as pay, contact hours, etc, etc. I am also interested to know about the city of Jubail. In addition, in case I choose to apply, can anyone tell me what the interview is like? What kinds of questions and how many people will I speak with?

Thank you for any replies. Feel free to PM.

According to the wiki list of Saudi unis/colleges in Jubail, they're separate entities:

I have several female friends teaching in Jubail; they all say it's nothing special.

I have heard that Jubail holds the biggest petrochemical plant in the world, and that air pollution is very bad.
I wonder what is the level of air pollution in Jubail city?

There have been lots of complaints here and elsewhere about air pollution in Jubail.

John,. everything in KSA is different now. I believe it has even been moved and that the inhabitants are all liberal vegetarians with a weakness for doing everything that outsiders tell them to !

I work for McGill University's program with the RC here in Jubail. I work at Jubail Industrial College, but many of my fellow contractors work at J.T.I.

We're paid ~$4000 Canadian per month, and given accommodation. We're being moved to accommodation that's on the J.T.I. campus. However, we're part of a special program and I don't know the pay rates of the teachers who are direct hires at the institute, nor do I know what other benefits they get, or even whether they receive niqamas (I assume they do - we don't).

J.T.I. is all right from what I've heard. It has big class sizes and teaching involves Powerpoint and multimedia stuff. I think most of the classes are quite low-level, and a lot of them are remedial or for people with disciplinary problems.

Jubail is not a nice place. It's extremely polluted and there's trash everywhere. But it's not the worst place to live in the world, and probably not the worst place in Saudi Arabia (it's laid back in terms of fundamentalism compared to other regions, it's near an airport, and it has some decent restaurants and shisha spots). But yeah, the pollution from the seemingly endless industrial zone has done a number on my sinuses and respiratory system, so it'd be difficult to live here for too long.

Hope that's helpful.

The direct hire teachers will be hired by the Royal Commission, so benefits etc will be the same as for JIC & UCJ. Salary will depend on a large number of unknown factors, somewhat related to qualifications and relevant experience. If you are married you can get wife (1 only) and kids (2 only, under 18 ) benefits, which include tickets, school up to 9th Grade, accommodation (maybe, more likely an allowance). You'll get loads of vacations.

I quite like Jubail Industrial City, and apart from the piles of trash left behind by the afternoon students in front of the ELC building there isn't much trash here. Jubail Ballat has wall to wall trash, rats, and dead cats, I think the MacGilligans get compounded down there. The alleged pollution in Jubail is widely complained about, but it doesn't give my asthma any trouble. It does give me gooey eyes, but the RC Clinics (another benefit) will provide de-conjunctivating drops whenever you need them. I think you can build up partial immunity to pollutants, if they don't kill you first. Anyway, it makes the air taste better when you go home for 60+ days summer vacation. (Another benefit)
