				| Is it true that uni contracts in Hebei are a little more controlling than contracts found for unis in other provinces? I am being submitted with a contract that seems kind of harsh. The recruiter says it is because the school is close to Beijing. | |

				| If you feel it's harsh renegotiate. If that doesn't work to your advantage look elsewhere. | |

				| I don't think OP lacks a common sense. Most of us do our best before endorsing agreements or moving on "eslewhere".
Atlhough I have only six months under my belt in the country, I know quite a few teachers in my location and they have similar issues to the original post. Perhaps local employers are more "unionized" than we are.

To break the ice, i'd upsell my skills and talent supported by my qualifications, experiences and general knowledge.

				| the ice is broken, and the job is on the table if I want it. The problem is that the ice has not melted. The contract tries to regulate personal activities and even speech more than most contracts I have seen. It is not that I am interested in smuggling or lobbying, but the whole feel of it is degrading and creepy. | |

				| Your cryptic message leads me to believe danger is possibly on the horizon. Would that be correct? | |

				| Not that I am aware of. I am not too interested in danger. Will my keyboard explode soon? | |

				| I doubt it, but just in case be sure to inform the employer that you're a good machine, and you don't need any outside regulation to function in accordance with your operating instructions. All should be fine. | |

If he signed it this'd be a confidentiality breach. But I agree it'd be helpful to see the ice.

				| Kids, derailed amtrack's coming at you!

 Seriously

Aren't local agreements lower in character and alarming? I guess this is what the forum's about, isn't it?
