If you have accepted a contract to go to this university to run a camp GET OUT NOW. If you are at this university teaching English TAKE YOUR TICKET AND GO HOME. YOU WILL NOT BE PAID. The HUFS (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies) also known as HAFS (Hankuk Academy of Foreign Studies) is an infamously unethical institution which cut the salaries of 40 foreign teachers more than 25% stubbornly defying Korean tax law. On January 26, 2006, the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies robbed 40 foreign teachers of 550,000 Korean Won EACH, and in some cases robbed foreign teachers of more than 1,000,000 Korean Won EACH by deducting these amounts from the teachers' final salaries citing false tax codes. There were teachers called in from other universities who were not paid, and even Korean teaching assistants received cuts to their salaries. The English winter camp that ran at HUFS Yongin Campus from December 29, 2005-January 26, 2006 made more than 400,000,000 Won and the administration robbed its foreign teachers of more than 10,000,000 Won.
IF YOU ARE WORKING FOR HUFS/HAFS YOU WILL BE ROBBED OF YOUR PAY.

Also a second WARNING. If you are accepting any contracts by recruiter Yu-Seok Kim (Kim, Yu-Seok) out of Pusan, (who also goes by the recruiter name of ESL JINI and JINI Kim) [email protected] http://www.esljini.com phone 82-10-5797-0509 if this is your recruiter you can be assured you will be led to an unreputable employer. He helped arrange this disaster that cost 40 foreign teachers more than 10 million Won. He also deliberately and intentionally misled every teacher to believe that they would be taxed between 3.3%-6%

Just a friendly reminder that the Korean government has indicated no interest in helping resolve this massive Jessie James proportion theft. If you have worked at youth camps in the West and are contemplating coming to Korea, consider yourself warned.
