Last year I worked for the LCI in Gangseo, not far away. It was the standard hakwon contract. At the end of the year they wanted me to re-sign, but I didn't because they didn't give me the pay raise I asked for. The place was pretty good as far as hakwons go, and I got some good teaching experience from it, but I decided to move on.
They refered me to the LCI in Mok-Dong because the pay was higher, but also the hours were longer, so I decided not to take it. So as far as I know, their contracts are for 130 hours, plus there is alot of paperwork, writing evaluations and such. But all in all, it's not as bad as the horror stories often told about Kids Clubs. |

It appears that the scam is this: they offer you a high base salary for a high number of hours taught and if you don't teach all of that high number of hours they dock your pay down.
I'd avoid it. |

Yeah, I passed it.............the recuiter did not want to provide me with names and contact information of the teachers.
AND, would not acknowledge whether or not they paid into the N.P. system.
In all honesty, IF I come back I will probably work for a hogwan, but only if they pay into the national pension. It is a good thing to have, they are required to do it, and it shows some integrity on their part.
Thanks for the informion, YA'LL.

Nah, there is not any need for that. I already asked the recruiter too many questions, and he ran away. Besides, I found out some other dirt about that place.

I could write a book on that place. Just google it. One of the most blacklisted schools around. If your recruiter tried to give you that school, I'd ditch the recruiter too. |

Oh, believe me I did.
I found some info the place on another ESL site.........(won't say it here).
It was enough.
The salary seemed nice though...2.5-2.8.

Ive seen an LCI contract that had a 3 month probationary period as well where you can get fired with no come back. Plus a few other nasty clauses to add to the 130 hours minimum which does not include a huge amount of unpaid expected hours you have to work as well. |

Too paranoid about liable lawsuits these days to provide details, even on pm's.
Sometimes it's best to just steer clear of certain things. You know...piranhas...lakes of magma...things like that. |

It's possible, yes. It's also possible to be even worse, who knows?
But to really know what's going on you need to talk to someone who has worked there recently.
Not someone who's still there (because they may still be in the honemoon).
Best of luck. |
