http://popseoul.com/2008/12/16/yoobin-of-wondergirls-says-please-stop/

http://www.allkpop.com/index.php/full_story/is_yoobin_upset_over_her_weight/

She's the oldest, not a teenager anymore, so it makes sense that she would have the most womanly figure, as opposed to the schoolgirl stick-figures of some of the others. Being thin is even more of an obsession here than it is in the west.

Speaking of the Wondergirls, three of them can actually sing. Who knew? Check out 1:30, where one of them is actually hiding her face in shame.

Those stats she left are a big lie. She's well over 50 kgs.

My wife is 49kgs and exactly the same height, and she looks a lot thinner than Yoobin!

I told my wife to gain weight. She was at 44 to 45 kgs or so when we married.

At her yearly physical, my wife was listed as exactly in the middle for a healthy weight.

Whatever her true weight is, I think she looks great.

I predicted a year ago that a Wondergirl would commit suicide before the age 25.

The over/under in Vegas if there were a line would probably be 23.

looks like she's puffed up a bit, especially on the face, but I've always found her to be the most attractive Wonder Girl and nothing's changed on that front.

please don't buy into any of that bullshit.

another waygook in my gym was told by the doctor when he did his physical that he was "a little obese".

obviously the effing stooge was looking at one of those utterly and completely useless BMI charts.

I can't speak for women, but BMI for guys who lift something besides a beer glass once in a while is useless.

(btw.. the fact that they use the same system for both men and women, re bmi also tells me it's completely useless)

I've got a new system for your wife

Does her ass look fat (or too thin as the case may be) in those jeans?

oops wait a minute.

Your wife's Korean, right? have to come up with a different test for Asian women, especially of the NE variety.

Hey, if she feels bad, she can lie down and put some Japanese food all over her stomach and face; she's the only attractive one of the bunch, and I hope her appearance influences the other ones.

What a refreshing thing to say to a girl and mean it "Fit in a hamburger once in awhile with those salads!"

Well, the sad thing is, they use a Korean male BMI chart when figuring your life/health insurance rates with Samsung insurance. Some foreigner should sue them for it. According to that chart, I'm obese, and need to be a max of 92kgs at 188cm tall in order not to be obese!

That's a little extreme. BMI charts aren't "completely useless," you just have to use them will a little common sense and take the person's body composition into account. There are ways to estimate % body fat, including simply looking at the person's physique. Clearly, a muscular man is not "obese."
Conversely, a lot of Korean women are skinny but are not healthy, as they never exercise.

How sad that a healthy looking Korean girl is called fat. Unfortunately it is all too common here.
When I was studying Hapkido with my female Korean friend, she quit after 3 months. When I asked her why, she told me that her friends all said she was getting fat. I was shocked, she was far from being fat! She was a size 0! She then told me it was her legs that were the problem. Due to all the kicking we'd been doing, her legs were building muscle. Instead of twigs, she was starting to have shapely calves and thighs. I tried explaining that muscle was heavier and better than fat, but she wouldn't listen.
My husband's cousin recently came over from the USA for some medical treatments here. When we asked her why, she said she didn't trust the doctors in the USA. Apparently, they did some testing and discovered that she had more body fat than muscle despite weighing only 45kg. The doctors warned her that at her age(45) it was very unhealthy for her to have such a small amount of muscle mass. She thought that since she was so skinny, the doctors didn't know what they were talking about. Fortunately, she had a doctor here who agreed and backed up the information. They have put her on a weight - training program to build mass.
It is really difficult to change people's minds about what is healthy and what is not. The BMI is so often treated as Gospel and it can be so misleading! I feel so bad for all the healthy, strong and beautiful women here who think they are fat because their unhealthy, weak friends are a size smaller.

I believe there are shades of fat.

You can be pleasantly plump and still be in good health.

I know a guy who can barely fit in doorways but there would be no arguement from anyone how fit and strong he is. Highly energentic too.

But then you get slothy fat. Or just child chubs, etc.

I think yoo bins fat is still sexy as ever. She's always been THE ONLY I know of the wonder girls. I don't even know the names of the other. I don't see the issue with her gaining some weight. As long as she doesn't get out of control because she is a pop idol. And you know how the camera adds 20lbs.

Not to mention she has like 4 cameras on her at all times...

Yes. They clearly don't know about weightlifting. I hover between 8-10% bodyfat, and was also told to "lose some weight" at my physical. I guess cuz I'm 210 and 5'11, the chart says that is fat. Rolling Eyes

By the way, I hit Yoobin. Three years ago, I guess before they were famous. She's one of the few non "dead fish" lays I've had in Korea.

if I were you, I would refuse to pay the heightened premium and instead insist on a body fat assessment from a doctor (can be easily done with calipers). I'd even offer to pay for it.

if refused, I'd threaten to take them to court (in the US, they would obviously easily accept a bodyfat count from a doctor as a substitute. The bmi chart exists in its utterly useless form because all a clown has to do is look at it, without doing any real work)

and troll bait, sorry but they ARE utterly useless,

UNLESS you are a lifelong couch potato.

if you have any amount of muscle mass on your frame whatsoever, the utterly useless bmi chart essentially treats it as fat.

http://mindbodyconnections.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/bmi-comparison.gif

btw I just took my physical and I was PRAYING the doctor would say something about being fat, based on assumedly the BMI, so I could then ridicule him for using something so stupidly useless.

not a word. They asked me if I smoked and if I exercised and if I drank. Checked off some boxes and that was it.

I did notice after my chest X-ray the male and female technicians were giggling as I walked away . I'm fairly sure they haven't seen a chest like that (and hairy on top of it) in a LONG time, if ever Very Happy
