I'm checking out the English version of the Asiana website.
It says I have to enroll. When I get to the zip code it
won't let me type it in. It only lets you search by the
name of your myeon. I have a Korean try and it still
doesn't work.
I call and get the first person. She passes me to the
second person who does the website. Her line is
noisy and says something about a sale price.
I think she was asking me if I was trying to find
sale prices on the website. She passed me
to a third woman.
I explain it to her. I tell her where I live.
She wants to look into it and call me back.
I tell her I would rather wait on hold while
she checks.
She then says we can connect our computers
so she can see what is wrong with my computer.
I tell her there is nothing wrong with my computer.
"Can you try to enroll and see if it is working?"
She again wants to connect our computers.
I suggest she tries it with her computer.
She says something about it not being an
internet problem. I ask if there is someone
else I can talk to. On and on and on.
Then she wants me to go to the Korean website.
I tell her I would be lost. She says she will tell me
what to click on.
We go back and forth a bit.
Finally I say,
"I want you to use YOUR computer with YOUR web browser
to go to YOUR English website and try to enroll."
She asks me for my information and tries to enroll me.
She can't get the zip code to work.
She said she was sorry.
I said, "We didn't need to hook our computers together now did we?"
She will call me back when it is fixed. |

Your post looks like poetry, Bukowski.
Anyway, I notice there's pretty poor quality in websites in Korea - especially the English version but the Korean version as well. Odd for such a wired country. Really, try getting ANYTHING to work in anything but internet explorer. |

Asiana's website is absolutely atrocious at best.
If I have to book online I generally go with Korean Air. |

That's because for most Korean people, when something is sort of good... it's good enough. |

I hate Asiana Airline because when I was coming back here the last time they blatantly lied to me. Either that or all their employees are just inept. I was coming from Toronto to Chicago and had Asiana the rest of the way to Seoul. I called their American office weeks in advance to reserve a window seat but, after being passed around for 20 mins, I was told they cannot reserve seats in advance. I asked them why, every other airline I have ever used (upwards of a dozen) had done this. Oh, no, I was wrong. Actually most airlines don't do it. Uh-huh...
So I get to Chicago and go directly to check in with Asiana. The desk isn't open, but I'm 2nd in line and ready to request a window or just an aisle seat. Whichever, as long as its not one of those dreaded middle seats. I wait over an hour until the kiosk opens, go up and ask for the window. All the windows are taken due to early requests. Ummmm, your American office told me that I couldn't request. Anyway, I'll have an aisle. OK, an aisle seat is reserved, here's your ticket. I ask again, are you sure this is aisle. Yes, yes, please move on. There's Koreans behind you!
I wait 3 hours to get on the plane for my 13 hour flight. When I board what do I find out? I've got a seat smack-dab in the middle! An adjoshi that I remember from the line (behind me) is sitting aisle right next to me. Now, I'm not a giant, but I'm a big guy. I had to basically sit like I was in a coffin for 13 hours while the two Korean men on either side of me refused to share the armrest.
Add to that all the meals I wanted being 'out' whenever they decided to get to me and the overall indifference of the personnel, and I will make sure I never fly with Asiana again. |

That's funny - I read in the paper a few days ago that they just got a 5 star rating for overall customer service. |

Par for the course from North America...Better service from Asiana (usually) in Asia. Otherwise, two words to etch into your memory:
SINGAPORE AIRLINES
Repeat as often as needed...! |
