Just wondering if anyone has worked for Avalon schools? If so, how was your experience? I've been offered a position in Suji and I don't know much about the place. Any info helps.

I have a few students at my public school that I know attend Avalon. They are either returnees from North America or very studious and serious students. That's all I know.

Avalon is a brandname that's branching out in Bundang. Used to be called CIE---and there are some posts on this board relating to the old CIE schools. The benefits of Avalon are that you get paid on time and you're likely to get a decent officetel or apartment. The housing, if in Suji, is a little older than the officetels in Bundang, but still decent from what I hear.

THere's tension/segregation between foreigners and Koreans, and plenty of mis/disinformation and miscommunication between Koreans (and Korean bosses) and the foreign teachers.

There's plenty of typical hagwon/Korea b.s. at Avalon (see above), but all things considered, it's not too bad of a hagwon to work for. Like I said, you get paid on time, and the people who work at the junior campuses seem to like it alright.

What level are you teaching?
