for the ladies, is it possible to get the sponge or a diaphram in Korea? I know the sponge was banned in the U.S. but is it still available here? If it is available, where and how do you ask for it? My girlfriend is very anit-pill and condoms, well, you know. |

She should go to any women's clinic and ask for an iud. It's expensive to get it put in, but once it's there all your troubles are over. No pill nonsense or condoms etc. Just needs to get checked every year or so. |

Is it common for a girl to be anti-condom? I understand the pill, sure, but condoms?
I do without if I am in a monogamous, very trusting relationship if other birth control is around, but never met a girl that's anti-condom. |

I'm guessing you're not dating a Korean. |

I think you mistook the OP's words. Sounds like he's saying that his gf's anti-pill, and that he, himself, isn't a fan of buying condoms. |

Condoms feel bad for girls too. I hate them.
And really, all that fuss? If you're in a serious relationship there's no need to endure them. |

I heard abortion was the most common form of contraception in Korea. It is in Japan. |

abstinace is boring, felacio is fun but only if followed by sex, porn doesnt compare to the real thing.
does that answer your question?
so any more serious replies to the original question? |

I'm assuming she hates messing with her hormones moreso than remembering to take a pill everyday (or week), right?
I was once in a similar situation. Tried the pill. Hormonal problems. Tried the ring. Hormonal problems. Tried the diaphragm. Little awkward, killed the mood. Tried condoms. Bleh. Guess where that left us...months and months of irresponsibility. Good luck. |

Don't be foolish. While she can get an IUD, I'd suggest you'd both be better off with a diaphram or cervical cap. This is like the sponge, except that it is custom made to fit. It is reusable and therefore less costly.
Moreover, if you want something safer and you are a head-up above the serial monogamer; ask and search for an electronic ovulation predictor. I got one in Europe (of course the hormone-ridden US manufacturers will not produce these as they would too safely eliminate their day-to-day pill factories).
The device is so simple, you understand why European women use these more than any other device in serious relationships. She simply puts her finger on the device and it tells her whether, by body temperature, she is ovulating and therefore, fertile. If she is fertile, that is when you either abstain or get out the condoms.
No risk of infection, abortion, or latex allergy reaction.
Mine, from Germany, cost about $140 American, and lasted 10 years. Cheaper and safer than all the products and medical services your responders' have mentioned.
These might be in Korea, and if not here, certainly in Japan. Worth a ferry ride of course. |

I am dating a Korean, though she's very open-minded.
I know they fear the pill, but do Korean girls hate condoms? It's the first I've heard of it. |

I second the IUD, so long as she doesn't have very difficult periods to begin with. I find it easier and more comfortable than a sponge, caps, etc, and you don't have to worry about harsh spermicides messing up your system. If she wants to, though, your girlfriend can probably get a diaphragm or cervical cap pretty easily in a big city (if it were me, I would forget about the sponge altogether). I think it will be hard to find the basal thermometer that Jackie describes unless you contact the manufacturer. They work best if you follow a strict daily routine, and keep in mind you will have to use another form or birth control when she is ovulating, so it might not be ideal for your situation. Anyway, she has a few options to consider. |
