Even though I've replied so many times to this question, I'll reply out of the pure kindness of my heart! Black, it may be... woo hahaha.

OK, seriously. Daegu isn't bad. It's pretty cool. I mean, I'd say it's the third best place in Korea. The best being Seoul, second best being Pusan, third being Daegu. Why? It's good for a year. MANY foreigners, lots of hangouts, big scene for drinkers, gamblers, AND saints. Coffee shops, a small downtown that can stay mildly semi-maybe-perhaps exciting for a year.

Yeah, come to Daegu if you got a good job offer. Cheap cabs, cost of living, etc. You can almost get anywhere in the city for very cheap. It'd be a nice starting place in Korea, but I've been here 1 year and five months and can say I'd be happy to live in Seoul or Pusan instead. Cool

Right on.

I did 2 years in Seoul and am finishing 1 in Daegu and I agree with what Brento has to say.

I looked around Daegu very briefly and felt pretty positive about it.

1.) It seems cleaner and more modern.
2.) The people seemed more down to earth.
3.) The girls seemed to have more junk in the trunk and looked less cookie-cutterish. (this is good)
4.) It was pretty damn hot.

What are apartment prices there like? The guy whose job I am considering taking says they're pretty cheap... but a second opinion never hurts, eh?

1) Cleaner yes. More modern - No. But they're working on it. Construction projects everywhere you look here.

2) Well, the people are very friendly. They seem to be less stressed out than Seoul people. They also seem to be very interested in foreigners. I don't know why. Spend half and hour on any street corner downtown and you'll see at least 6 foreigners. Anyway, the locals are nice people generally.

3) I don't see much difference between girls in all parts of Korea. Pretty big city Seoul girls might expect you to have money though.

4) I don't know why people complain about the heat in Daegu when the whole of South Korea is scorching hot in August. Okay, Daegu might be 36c instead of 34c in the rest of the country. My body can't tell the difference.
