I'm a Canadian teacher new to Deagu looking for some fellow x-pats to hang out with. I have a sweet College job, but im the only white face on staff. So..if anyone with any info on pick-up sports games, poker games, open house parties or anything of a social nature in Daegu could post me some invites i'd be happier than a pig in local drinking water.
thanks!
John

Tough crowd in Daegu.
If you want you can come to Changwon and meet up at O'Brien's.
Daegu has the itaewon club and the thunderbird and the commune for expats.
The thunderbird may even have some hockey.
go Bruins!

Thunderbirds has a big hockey crowd and quite a few of the boys there play hockey as well. Drop in and talk to the barman. He'll give you the lowdown. There's an expat soccer team as well that plays every Sunday at 3pm near Keimyung university in Sung Seo. Let me know if you want to join and I'll give you directions. |

some of the bars are old, but as someone else mentioned, crew bar, thunderbird and commune. The site is a bit of a laugh too. One bar in there looks like it could be a tranny bar. Oh yeah, Commune is good for open mic on Wednesday nights.

It WAS a tranny bar. It was even signed 'Transgender bar" in hangeul. It's closed now, but it was great for a shock to what is normally a mundane Saturday evening. You wouldn't believe the stuff i witnessed happening in there.
Now, cue all of the morons with gay humor. |

Most of the long term foreigners in daegu are fags...
One is a woman basher, and most are plain losers...
You've been warned... |

There are over 15,000 registered foreigners living in and around Daegu, and that's excluding the 4000+ GIs and their families. God knows how many of those are long-termers. Kudos for you to know most of them well enough to know they are losers. With a social life like that, its a miracle that you even have time to visit Daves. |
