|
|
After two years in and around the 'gu, I have moved north to another province. I like it here and my new job and colleagues are all good, but this thread is about some of the things I miss about Daegu:
1) My friends there, of course
2) The hills that ring the city
3) Daegu KOTESOL chapter (technically shouldn't be on this list, I'm going to keep on going to Daegu meetings)
4) Feeling the central location, easy transport options
5) Some of the bars, Jeng-yi in particular
6) Subway system, being just off the end of Daegu's line 2 is somehow a lot easier than being just off Seoul's line 1
7) My wicked apartment that was just off campus and right there in the Home Mart, dry cleaners, Buy the Way, stationery store, DVD store, pharmacy and general high street shopping zone
VIII)* The tangy Daegu speech - kapshi-dehhh!
9) Choi's cafe and cake shop
10) Spa Valley, long bus ride from door to door, but worth it
*8+close bracket gives one of those sickening smiley faces : (
Did I miss anything? |

The way to write 8) without it turning into a smilie face is to disable smilies in the post. Look at the options between the text box and the preview/submit buttons. |

Is spa valley really any good? I've been in Daegu long enough, but never bothered to go. I was afraid it would be an over crowded mess of kids. |

Daegu misses you too, jinks.
I'm leaving in 3 months - will miss Jeng-iy also, and the trad medicine market (especially when it rains), my local cafes, the stationery stores, and the mountain paths right behind my home.
Good luck to you up there. |

Great replies!
I heard it was Daejeon women that were hot and Daegu men were considered handsome. Thanks for the info on disabling smileys, now you mention it I have seen that option. I'm gonna check out the youtube samples (can't wait) when I get to work on Monday, for somereason my home pc doesn't like youtube. Spa valley is great; not cheap, but go on a weekday otherwise it is wall to wall kiddie hell. Don't bother paying the extra for the health baths, whatever they are. I forgot about how brilliant the pedestranised downtown shopping area is too, and I saw No Brain and Dynamic Duo (odd combination) together at an MBC teleconcert. Silvertoes...hmmm. Thanks for the ups; I will pm you for more info, have we been dancing? |

Miss the downtown. Cental location...easy to go anywhere.
Some of my friends who are still there. A Costco in the city (even if it is the worst one).
24 hour grocery shopping.
My business. |
