Hi,

I recently got a job offer in Chungnam. Does anybody know anything about this area (specifically the air quality as I have asthma).

Thank you,

Amai

Hi Amai,

I work in Chungnam. In a small town called Gyeryong, right next to Gyeryong-san National Park. Chungnam province is pretty big and the quality of life and the air quality differs from one area to another.

The air in my town is about as good as it gets. However if you get a job in Cheonan then it's another story. It would help us if you precised the location in Chungnam.

I have lived there and I wish I still did.
The only reason I don't still live there is because my director was a real whirleybird.

I lived in Hongseong.
It is the smallest community in Korea that I have lived in.
It is the only community where I felt as if I was locally famous.
Every time I went downtown, strangers would recognize me.

I also enjoyed taking walks in the countryside.
Furthermore, I enjoyed the sparse population.
Whenever it rained late at night, I ran outside and took a shower under the waterspout.
Either nobody ever saw me or if they did, they never said anything.

Here in Suweon, there are better libraries.
Special interests are served better here in the big city, too.
This is the only place where I have been able to attend Korean sign language class.

I hope you're not thinking about Kim's Language School in Hongseong.
If you are, don't sign anything without sending me a PM.

Yup, I work right next to the Korean military headquarters, it's not just the navy headquarters. You're right it is a beautiful area. I was out and about at the gyeryong-san cherry blossom last Saturday and snapped a few pics, you can view them here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/rainville/sets/72057594108257999/show/

Oh, and of course the obligatory view from my apartment :

Oh, and as posted on a previous thread, my school is currently hiring : http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=17970 Smile
