Right, i had a chuckle when i read that too. I could envision the Samsung employee sitting next to him also nodding emphatically at this comment. |

iPhones are like less than 10% of all cell phone sales in the US. What makes you think they will be even MORE popular in Korea?
Have you SEEN the Korean Appstore? It sucks. The biggest complaint Koreans have about iPod is ITUNES. Name me 1 single Korean website that makes you register a credit card beforehand to make a payment?
I don't get the "Iphone will destroy Samsung and LG and bring unification to Korea" mentality people have. The Korean Appstore sucks balls. Koreans HATE using Itunes.
The Iphone will sell, until people realize that you need Appstore/Itunes to take advantage of it. Then the owners will get frustrated with it and try to sell it to get something else they are familiar with. |

First of all 10% of all cell phone sales in the US is a useless metric, you need to look at the smartphone market. And even then your have stats like the iPhone accounts for 50% of all mobile web traffic, that the iPhone grew in worldwide smart phone sales 500% year to year, with overall market growth of around 375%.
Secondly, this is Korea and not the US so US metrics account for about..JACK SHEET. We don't know what will happen with the app store, and for that matter ALL app stores in Korea both the SK, LG, and Korean Apple app store suck. This has nothing to do with Apple or the iPhone but rather the lack of mobile web data users in Korea due to high data rates and bad pricing models by Korean telecoms. Please point me to the statistic that shows that the majority of Koreans complains about iPod is iTunes. |

That's funny, because from where I'm sitting, Korean phones are some of the least user-friendly devices it's ever been my displeasure to use. |

..........personally, for the sake of competition which can only benefit the consumer, I hope the iphone does well in Korea. |

You came to Korea to lead an ascetic lifestyle did you? Btw, it's Nowon-Gu, not Nowon-Dong. |

Not quite. Mine is the observation that the iPhone is another $399+ gadget to add to the market. |

Another thing we're forgetting is the power of price. If the rumors are true, (and Apple certainly could) that Apple will offer the iPhone around $200-$300 dollars with contract, that could certainly convince a lot of Koreans who have to pay $800-$900 for a Haptic to get it.

According to local reports, the iPhone may be made available with a service contract for as little as US$200 as much as one-fifth the price of handsets and contracts offered by market leaders including Samsung and LG. |

Keep those keen, totally-not-obvious observations coming then. |
