|
|
Does anyone have an estimate of how much it would cost for a cab from the Express bus terminal in Seoul to Incheon airport?
looking for alternatives to taking a cab straight from Wonju and I'm thinking maybe I could take a late-night bus from Wonju to Seoul and then hop into a cab from there. The subway ride may be a little out of the question because I will be travelling with a dog. My flight leaves at 11 am the next day so I guess I will likely be spending the night in the airport unless I end up having to take a direct taxi from here in Wonju to Seoul, which seems most likely at this point as I want to minimize stress on my dog. |

Agreed. Check to see if there is a limo service from Wonju. Which airport are you going to? The subway to the Incheon airport won't be opening for a couple more years. (They're noisily building it as I write this just outside my window!)
An alternative idea might be to take a bus into Gosok (Express) Bus Terminal and then get a cab over to the CO-EX. I believe if I'm not mistaken, you can check-in and clear customs there and a bus will take you right to the Incheon airport. The dog may be a separate issue~ I have no idea about that. (E.g. proper shots, papers, red tape, etc.) I'm assuming that you're looking into that before commencing your trip.
You can contact the KNTO Hotline for more info. Their number is (02)1330. Press #2 for an English speaking operator. Use the area code in Wonju and the same number (though I'm not certain if they have an English speaking operator there~ you can try, I guess).
Good luck and let us know what happens.
Have a pleasant trip.
All the best to you. |

thanks so much for the replies guys, the help is really appreciated.
alas, i do apologize, i didn't give you guys all of the information. The reason I can't take the direct Wonju to ICN airport limo is because the earliest bus leaves at 6 am and my flight is at 11 am. With a dog, and at xmas time, I am going to need more than 2 hours (it takes 3 hours to get there from Wonju) to check in, clear security and board the aircraft AND give myself some cushion time just in case I get caught in traffic or something. That's why I need to look for alternative routes, and with a dog, staying in a hotel/motel/yagwon may also be out as the majority I've called don't allow dogs.
So, here's the newest plan. There's train that leaves Wonju at 4:11 am. I'll get into Cheongnyangni station at around 6 am. Is there a bus that goes from that station to the airport? If not, do you think it would be hard to find a cabby willing to take me to there? I'm guessing the cab can't be more than 70K which saves me a bundle still because the quoted cab fare for going from Wonju to Seoul is 170K. Yeesh!
thanks for the help guys! |

You can get the Cheonnyangni 602 bus at that station. Check the Incheon airport site for more info on that.
Otherwise, you could get a bus from Chuncheon (sorry I don't know how far away that is from Wonju) directly to the airport and it takes 3hrs. |

| chuncheon is 30-45 minutes from wonju if memory serves. While it does look like the airport bus from chuncheon starts earlier (4:30), I think he'd have to spend the night in chuncheon since i doubt buses from wonju to chuncheon begin that early. |

Awesome! Checked it out and yup, there's a bus that leaves to the airport every 15 minutes from Cheongyangni. Thanks a lot for the suggestion and all the help guys! |

Yes you can just pay when you get on.
I've caught the bus many times from Seoul Express bus terminal and you just pay the bus driver.
The 609 bus goes goes to Incheon airport every 15 mins and it's direct! So generally around an hour or less. |

Isn't it due to open next year? I'm not sure if this is upto date or not.
