San Francisco-area couple calls for global orgasm for peace Dec. 22
Canadian Press
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Two peace activists have planned a massive anti-war demonstration for the first day of winter.
But they don't want marching in the streets. They'd much rather protesters just stay home.
The Global Orgasm for Peace was conceived by Donna Sheehan, 76, and Paul Reffell, 55, whose goal is for everyone in the world to have an orgasm Dec. 22 while focusing on world peace.
"The orgasm gives out an incredible feeling of peace during it and after it," Reffell said Sunday.
"Your mind is like a blank. It's like a meditative state."
"And mass meditations have been shown to make a change."
The couple are no strangers to sex and social activism. Sheehan brought together nearly 50 women in 2002 who stripped naked and spelled out the word "Peace."
The stunt spawned a mini-movement called Baring Witness that led to similar unclothed demonstrations worldwide.
The couple have studied evolutionary psychology and believe war is mainly an outgrowth of men trying to impress potential mates, a case of "my missile is bigger than your missile," as Reffell put it.
By promoting what they hope to be a synchronized global orgasm, they hope to have people channel their sexual energy into something more positive.
The couple said interest appears strong, with 26,000 hits a day to their website, www.globalorgasm.org.
"The dream is to have everyone in the world (take part)," Reffell said.
"And if that means laying down your gun for a few minutes, then hey, all the better."

Is it even possible for a 76 year old woman to have an orgasm? Visualize it. |

I like that this cause doesn't direct people to support any kind of cause or change. People pray and meditate everyday for world peace. It isn't working. After getting off, everyone should donate money to a cause, write a letter to the government or go out and look for a way to stop violence. The concept of orgasms helping world peace is creative, and fun, but it ain't gonna do jack. |

this friday folks...
bibbitybop, i know it's frivolous, but hey. if people can chill out and get off for a few minutes or hours, at least that's one day when people will be in a better mood. this is a crappy time of year for so many people, here's something fun that shouldn't have to cost money or even involve other people, just make yourself feel good!
there's also the remote possibility that people who hear about this will get off and then do something constructive afterwards, writing that letter to their elected official or donating time or money to a charitable organization...

Advising people to do something constructive is exactly what the people pushing this event need to do. Orgasms should be a year round thing, not held for only for the holidays or for global peace. Condoms cost money, too, although I guess you don't absolutely need it.
I'm gonna donate my sperm on Dec. 22 to a charitable organization, maybe it will help some lonely woman visit a sperm bank and make a free withdrawal.
On that note, are there sperm banks in Korea? I could use some extra cash. And, if I make money from my sperm, is that breaking an E-2 contract? |

this might very well be seen as a kick in the pants to the guys who are so hard up for sex that they're willing to bet their lives on a promise of 70 virgins or whatever in the afterlife. |

My Friday will be 45 hours long! Ahh-sa!
I'm leaving on a flight for Canada Friday afternoon, arriving in Vancouver Friday morning local time.
Plenty of time to get lucky.
GOFP should make for an interesting come on line.
(But who am I kidding... I haven't had a girlfriend in four years of living in Korea, partially through being so choosy, so I'm unlikely to get hooked up even temporarily on that day. Still, my eyes will be open and I'm feelin' a bit daring and it is the holidays...) |

Go to U.B.C. or that decent bar near Stanley Park - you know, the one with 35 beers from around the world -each in its own pic - on its windows.
I recall seeing it on Robson Street, and it was diagonally across the way from Robsonstrasse Hotel in February, 1997.
Your newly won "virginal" status is something to be worn proudly on your chest -much like I'd wear an Olympic Medal or some such thing. |
