After waiting and waiting I have finally accepted a uni job which I am over the moon with. My questions is, and I don't want to sound like a prat or anything, but how many offers/interviews did you turn down before deciding on the one you signed with?

I am looking forward to going to my current university'd HODs and telling them to 'stick it'. The second in command honestly looked hurt when I told him that I was moving onto bigger and better things. Don't get me wrong....I was very polite but very matter-of-factly with him and yet he couldn't understand why I would accept a position that was much better than the one I already have.

Others may disagree, but the university that I work for now is a great stepping stone for those WITHOUT a MA. But after 2 years of the place I am finally glad that I will working for a place that recognizes my qualifications.

Ok I am sorry. The purpose of this thread was to see how long people had waited before signing their contracts with their university. If you don't work at a university...well i'm sorry that't not really my problem.

This threads purpose, and I apologise if it wasn't clearly stated, was how many offers from universities did people have before they settled on the one that they chose. I was just curious and wasn't bragging.

SHEESH!

once i found one that I really wanted?

I wasted no time at all signing with them.

the other offers I had previously delayed (with contract questions, idle conversation) as long as possible hoping that something better would come along.

Congrats on the new job!

Hey Gideon,

Yeah man, you are right about the place. It has its upsides, but a hell of a lot of downsides. But each to their own I guess.

Poet...yeah sorry mate you were right to call me on my mistake. No harm, no foul etc.

Tell you what....if you are in Seoul one day i'll buy you a beer....how does that sound?

Why not. We were all a bit excited when we got our first real job.
Let the OP be excited. At least the OP didn't start another "Korea sucks" thread...or he's not being negative like "Get a real job you hagwon monkies".

Sounds like you're a hagwon monkey.

I'd like to accept a uni job, but I don't think I could deal with the pay cut.

No, bragging would be telling you that I'm on vacation until next March. Rubbing it in would be adding that it's a paid vacation. Wink
